Solar park to provide 30% of Swedbank’s electricity in Sweden

Bank to purchase 11.5 GWh per year in 20-year PPA

Swedbank, with four home markets in Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, has long been committed to environmental sustainability. In 2003, Swedbank was the first public limited bank in the Nordic region to receive ISO 14001 environmental certification. All of the bank’s Sweden-based operations are powered by renewable energy. More recently, the bank set a group-wide climate target to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 20 % between 2017 and 2022.

Swedbank chose Alight as its solar PPA provider after an extensive RFP process. Alight’s team of experts was the major differentiator, according to feedback from Marius Adomavicius, Swedbank’s Head of Group Infrastructure.

Now, Alight is constructing a 12 MW solar park in Linköping, Sweden. The park is expected to provide 30% of Swedbank’s electricity in Sweden, or 11.5 MWh yearly. It will start producing electricity during summer 2020.
