About the project: Located near Åhus in Skåne, one of Sweden’s largest solar parks entered operation in 2022, covering an area equivalent to 8 football fields. This cutting-edge facility now generates roughly 8 GWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power 1,600 homes. The solar park was a joint venture between Nolato, Bixia, and Alight, developed under a power purchase agreement (PPA) that ensured Nolato, through Bixia, exclusively sourced this green energy for at least a decade.

In 2023, Alight introduced agrivoltaics to the park, bringing sheep to mow the grass. The partnership delivers economic and environmental benefits for all partners involved, including Alight, the shepherd and the sheep, as well as the community. The shepherd’s sheep graze the land, while Alight saves resources associated with maintaining the grass surrounding the solar panels, all while the community benefits from additional clean electricity.
